two into one

In the time-lapse flip-book Venn diagram of our lives
the point where our centers meet is but one sheet
drawn on slices of time
as temporary as sticky notes

look through the microscope of time
see how our circles, our universes,
both infinite yet separate,
meet and mesh

like two cells joining
as our nuclei combine,
see the flash, the first climax,
then another and more,
then none

gone in a temporal instant
a mere blip on the graph

then, slow divergence
our circles divide again
each nucleus forever altered
like DNA exposed to too much radiation

And the only part of me left alive
is a subset of you
